McKernan Creek flows through Cooper Mountain Nature Park and eventually into the Tualatin River. The Jackson Reservoir outlet also flows into McKernan Creek. McKernan Creek is named after John McKernan an Oregon pioneer and US Army soldier. The Cooper Mountain Community Plan includes the McKernan Creek Greenway which is envisioned to be a mixed use pedestrian and bike path running along McKernan Creek.
