Red-Eared Sliders are the most popular turtle pet. Unfortunately, they often get released into natural areas when their owner no longer wants them. After release, they outcompete Oregon’s native turtles for food, basking, and nesting locations. Red-Eared Sliders can be identified by the red mark on the side of their head.
