Oregon Electric Railway Bridge

Oregon Electric Railway operated between Portland and Eugene starting in the early 1900s. The railway crossed the Tualatin River on the railway bridge which is next to the Ki-a-Kuts bridge near Tualatin Community Park. Due to declining ridership passenger service was discontinued in 1933.  Electrified freight service continued until 1945 when it was converted to diesel.  In 1970, Oregon Electric merged into Burlington Northern who now owns these tracks.  In 2004, the Westside Express Service (WES) was launched on the Beaverton to Wilsonville portion of these tracks.
