The Great Blue Heron is one of the most widespread and familiar waterbirds in Oregon. It is the largest heron in North America, standing approximately four feet tall. Great Blue Herons frequent many habitats from shallow areas of marshes, lakes, streams, and oceans. Great Blue Herons are highly adaptable and may be found hunting in urban settings such as ponds of city parks. The Great Blue Heron is commonly seen in the Tualatin River Watershed.
