The large towers pump irrigation water from the river to the Meriwether Golf Course, located just over the river bank. Irrigation water users pull water from the river under a water rights program managed by the Tualatin Valley Irrigation District. At low river flows, users are provided with irrigation water based on the seniority of their water right with junior water rights being cut off first.
